12. Explore MySpace and Facebook
Had a look at the dinky little vid on social networking. Didn't really tell me much.
Liked Alexa's site which gave me a quick and dirty on all of the fav. social networking sites.
Have had a look at some of the ways libraries are using Myspace. An exmple is "Libraries on Myspace".
Have set up my facebook account, but was a bit paranoid about giving my info away, so just corresponded with a few cousins and added them as friends. Got a bit lost with doing all the privacy settings stuff, but tried to follow Jenny Cameron's info sheet. Some options have changed since her document has been written.
Seems like a great way to share information in a pretty informal sort of way, for example in the link below under the "Forum" heading is a link : "Anyone know about Scratch?" (a new programming language that makes it easy to create your own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art -- and share your creations on the web. Probably is more useful for public library clients, but never say never!
Seems like US libraries are way ahead of Oz libraries in utilizing Myspace.
I love the Meredith Farkas' blog. She seems to have a finger in every Web 2.0 pie, and she even has a RSS feed available!
